Team Mindcrafters - Weekly Update 3-19-18 (early delivery)

Parents,

For a couple of reasons, next week's email is being sent home today.  There will not be another email on Monday.

Next week is Right to Read Week: Theme: "Oh the Places You Can Go with a Great Book!"

Spirit Days: 

Monday - Hats off to Dr. Seuss - wear your favorite hat

Tuesday -  Crazy Fox in Sox! - Show off crazy or mismatched socks

Wednesday - Character Costume Day - Dress as your favorite storybook character (doesn't have to be Dr. Seuss related)

Thursday - If I Ran the Zoo - Wear an animal themed shirt/outfit and bring in a stuffed animal too

Friday -  Oh, The Places You Can Go! - Wear a shirt/outfit from your favorite place you have ever visited (or in real life).


School calendar updates - There will be no school the Monday after Spring Break (April 9), so that teachers may participate in a safety training.  Also, please make sure that you are aware that the next Teacher Professional Development Day is May 8th, not May 1st.  Please see the email from the school for more information on both of these dates.

Book orders - Students were given book orders yesterday.  In order to place order and ensure its delivery prior to Spring Break, orders will be due on Monday.  Sorry for the quick turn around time.  Remember, Scholastic's website offers a wide selection of books that can be ordered, and they are searchable in many ways, including by AR level.  To order online use our class code: GJLYC

Reading News - Next week we will be finishing up Unit 4. This is the last unit we will do from the book. For the remainder of the year we put all of our skills (including spelling) into practice with other projects and units.

End of the quarter - Next Friday marks the end of the 3rd quarter. Students who earn 200% of their AR goal will participate in a pizza party on Wednesday, March 28. Those students will be notified next week. Grades will be available in Powerschool by Thursday, March 29.

  • Friday, March 23 - end of the 3rd quarter
  • Thursday, March 29 - last day before Spring Break.
