Team Mindcrafter Daily Update - 11-25-14

Parents,


We hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving break. Thank you for allowing us to work with your child each day! Please have a safe and restful holiday!

Multiplication Pizza Party - This will be on Friday December 5th for all students who have passed multiplication by today. I could use some donations of drinks in each classroom. Any parents willing to donate juice pouches/boxes would be really appreciated.


Reading. Kids have doing a great job working toward their quarterly goals. Since it was short week, there was no expectation to meet for reading this week. Students can use this opportunity to get ahead or shoot for one of the higher goals if they reach 100% early.

11-24-14 Team Mindcrafters Daily Update

Parents,


Spelling test retake:  MANY students struggled with the spelling words on Friday.  Students who missed more than two words (there are only 10-12 incorporated into our sentences) will retest tomorrow.  The retest will be over all 20 words, not in sentences.  Students who need to retake know who they are.  Some are finishing a practice page for the week's words for homework tonight.  I'd recommend going to the Spelling City link below for your child to take a practice test tonight, or if you need access to the list.  The words are under 2.2 Ranita the Frog Princess.


Math extra papers.  Students have received several extra credit pages this week and last that can be done for extra practice at home.  If these are completed and returned to school, students can earn extra effort Class Dojo points.  I'll also be sending home a packet over Thanksgiving that has some puzzles that your child can do for fun.  -Mr. Pransky

11-18-14 Daily Updates

Reading Log Reminders:  Thank you to those who have been helping your child keep up with his/her reading logs.  The students know that THEY are responsible for writing in all of the information on the logs themselves, and then are to get your initials each night.  I'm not checking everyone's logs daily.  However, I regularly check those who are not at the goal needed by the end of the week.  I've added a new Class Dojo category to reflect students who are not keeping up with their logs, when checked.  This is part of their nightly homework, and really helps to keep students on track with their reading.  Thanks again for your support.

Team Mindcrafters Daily Updates - 11-17-14

Gym Shoes/Boots:  Just a reminder that boots are needed if your child wants to play off of the black top at recess.  Be sure your child also bring tennis shoes for gym/battleball.

Food drive.  Whitehouse is holding a canned food drive for needy families.  Donations can be dropped off in the boxes below the clock by the front entrance to the school.

Reading and Math Fact progress:  We are very pleased at how well students are keeping up with their AR and Math Fact goals this quarter!  It is great to see so many students playing battleball today!!  Most students have met the multiplication goal, and others are close.  There are 7 school days left to meet this goal for the pizza party.  We know ALL can make it:)

Eat out to support WPA - Tonight at the Maumee Chipotle.  

Cold Weather: We will only have highs in the 30's for quite a few days, even into next week.  Sweatshirts are not suitable for these temperatures.  Please help make sure that your child is dressed appropriately to spend up to 30 minutes outside for recess. (This should include gloves or mittens.)

Soulshoppe

We were very lucky to be able to get Joseph back.  He was scheduled to be here the day we were off because of the fog.  He lives in California, but we were finally able to reschedule his visit.  Here are some pictures from today.
















Team Mindcrafters Daily Update - 11-10-14

Parents, 

Soul Shoppe.  Joseph Savage from Soul Shoppe visited us today to talk about ways we can support each other as allies in our school.  His messages focus on conflict resolution and communicating with others about our feelings.  We would encourage you to talk to your child about some of these ideas that we discussed such as  leaking vs. emptying your emotional balloon, using the "I" Message to tell a person what you need, and how to resolve conflicts with the "Clean-up."

Veteran's Day.  A letter went home last week looking for names of individuals in the community (friends, family, neighbors) who have served in the military.  We would like to honor them in a special way here at school tomorrow.  Please see this letter for more information.

Team Mindcrafters Daily Update 11-7-14

Parents, 

Math Challenge.  Master Multiplication by Midterm!  Students are challenged to master their multiplication facts by November 25, the day before Thanksgiving break.  Students who do this by this time will earn a pizza party from Mr. Pransky.  We'd love to see all students be able to participate.

Eat out to support WPA.  On Wednesday, November 12 the Maumee Chipotle is giving 50% of sales to the school.  Just bring the flyer that went home with your child and show it at checkout.

Supplies:  We have started the year with extra glue sticks for students to, in addition to those on our supply lists.  Our classroom supplies are almost gone.  Please help replenish your child's own glue stick supply if he/she is out, and extra donations for the classroom would also be greatly appreciated!

Battleball:  We had a huge number of students playing battleball today!  The Lemonade War novel is still helping with their AR goals.  Please encourage your child to read every night so that we can continue having so many students on track!
