Team Mindcrafters Daily Update 4-28-14

Parents,

Assignment Notebooks.  Both classes post daily assignments for students to copy in their assignment notebooks.  However, some students are either hoping to remember them, or relying on our daily emails.  They should still be copying this information in their assignment notebooks as part of their daily responsibilities.  You may want to see if your child has been keeping up on this.  Some 5th grade teams do not send nightly emails, and students may suffer some consequences if they are not practicing this daily routine.

Express yourself:

Tuesday - pattern day

Wednesday - metallic day

Thursday - warm colors (red, orange, yellow)

Friday - express yourself!

Reminders:
  • Thanks to those who sent in their RSVP for tonight's OAA night.  See you at 6:30.

Fwd: Team Mindcrafters Daily Update - 4-25-14

Parents,

I forgot to include in the daily update that our Spelling list for next week is all Geometry terms, not Lesson 24 as we would normally do.  Your child has flash cards to use to practice these.  Their test will count as both a Spelling and Math assessment.  They will be read the word by the teacher, such a "parallel", and then they will spell the word beside the matching image on their paper.

I've attached the flash cards since several people were absent today.

Team Mindcrafters Daily Update 4-21-14

Parents,

Blizzard Bag #3.  Due next Monday.

Supplies.  This is a good time to check with your child to be sure he/she has enough supplies to last through the end of the school year.  Commonly misplaced/used up items include: red marking pens, erasers, glue sticks, pencils, loose-leaf paper, and highlighters.

Bike Hike.  The 4th grade Bike Hike is a little more than a month away.  Your child will need a working, appropriately sized bike and a properly fitted bike helmet to ride along with the group.   If your child does not have a bike or helmet and you can not buy one or borrow one before that day, please also let your child's homeroom teacher know so we can find some to borrow for the day.  If your child does not know how to ride a bike, please contact your teacher so we can make arrangements to transport them for the day.  When we have nice weekends (like this one is expected to be), it is also important for your child to get out and practice riding their bike.  Its a great way to spend time together as a family, too!

OAA Letters.  Mr. Rhodes sent home a letter today about something special you can do to help your child on the days they take their OAA tests.  We would like you to write a short letter to your child with an encouraging message for them that they can open and read before beginning their test.  You'd be amazed at how much this small gesture means to your child.  I always love seeing all of the smiles as the children read these notes from you.  Please send your letter in a sealed envelope with something like "OAA letter" on the front and your child's name. We will save it to open on May 5 and May 7.

Have a great night!

Mrs. Dressel and Mr. Pransky

Reminders:
  • Father daughter dance Friday.
  • 4th Grade OAA night is Monday, April 28th.  Come join us to learn more about the test.  Students will complete fun activities to review for this important test.  There is a sign up slip to return by April 25th that went home with your child.
