Team Mindcrafters Daily Update - 5/23/16

Bike Hike.  Bike Hike was a big success this year.  The weather was perfect and the kids and teachers had a great time together. We did some new activities this year including an art station and a geocaching station that were very fun.  I have attached a few pictures.  Your child has access to more in their google drive.

Technology Party.  Students who met goals in Accelerated Math have earned a technology party tomorrow.  This means they are allowed to bring in their own devices and play school appropriate games during math tomorrow.

Team Mindcrafters Daily Update 5-12-16

Parents,

Forms.  We have forms from most students at this point so we will stop listing these as a reminder.  Thanks parents for helping get these turned in on time!

Fun fest tomorrow.  Please remind your child to consider the weather conditions when preparing for fun fest tomorrow.  Our grade level color is BLUE.  Its likely to be cool and a bit dewy out in the fields. Your child should be prepared for a very active day.  A water bottle (with your child's name on it) is a good idea to bring, too.  Any parents who would like to come to watch or want to volunteer to help are welcome to come, too.

General's Ice Cream Fundraiser - The 4th grade teachers will be scooping after 5:00 at Generals.  A percentage of the sales go to Whitehouse Primary so it's a delicious way to support your school!

Math.  As we approach the end of the year, this quarter's math goal is for students to master all 131 Accelerated Math objectives.  This is challenging as the objectives get pretty tough near the end.  Students who reach this goal will be exempt from Math homework for the rest of the year and will participate in a special technology party the last week of school.  I will still assign objectives for students who reach mastery, but from the fifth grade level library. (As I mentioned, this is optional as homework though.)  So far, these students have met this goal: Ava, Jack Co., Jack Ch., Charlie, Jaden, Mason, Jackson, and Zach.  Way to go!

Upcoming events:
  • May 14 - Art Show
  • May 16 - Bike Safety Presentation

Team Mindcrafters Daily Update 5-9-16

Parents,

FT Band - Today the students traveled over to the High School to listen the 6th grade band perform.  A letter is going home today for those interested in being a part of the Fallen Timbers band program next year.  This Thursday, Mr. Giffin will come to Whitehouse to give 4th graders an opportunity to try out 2 instruments they might be interested in playing.  The form coming home today must be signed and returned for any student interested.

Fun Fest.  Mr. McAfee said he is running a little short on parent volunteers for Fun Fest this year. If you would be able to help out in any way, please let him know.  (nmcafee@anthonywayneschools.org)

Team Mindcrafters Daily Update - 5-5-16

Parents,

It was an exhausting, but fun week.  Mrs. Dressel and I are ready to embrace the chaos and busyness that is the month of May.  As the year winds down, it is very important to remind your child to maintain their focus on their school responsibilities and to give their best effort on all tasks.  Students will continue to be expected to read nightly and complete their one daily homework assignment until the end of the year.  We don't want any of the children to miss out on the fun end of the year activities because they need to make up missed work or catch up on reading.  You can help your child by making sure he/she has a  time and place set aside each night to complete their school work.  Thanks so much for your support with this.

Have a great weekend!

Permission slips.  Two important permission slips went home today.  One is for Bike Hike and one for the Fort Meigs Field trip.  We are looking for chaperones for the Fort Meigs trip.  Fill out the form at the bottom of the permission slip if interested.  We do not take chaperones for Bike Hike, but you are welcome to park somewhere along the route and wave at the kids as they ride by if you'd like.  Please sign and return these forms right away if possible.

Fun Fest.  Mr. McAfee said he is running a little short on parent volunteers for Fun Fest this year. If you would be able to help out in any way, please let him know.  (nmcafee@anthonywayneschools.org)

Thank you.  Parents, thank you for all of the nice notes, e-mails and small gifts Mrs. Dressel and I received this week for Teacher Appreciation Week.  A couple small gifts just popped up on our desks, so whoever they were from, thank you!

Happy Mother's Day!  Happy mother's day to all the moms, Mrs. Dressel included.

Congrats!  We have another student who mastered all 131 4th grade objectives in Accelerated Math today.  Congratulations, Jaden!
