Team Mindcrafters Daily Update - 4-26-17

Parents,

Fast changes of the earth.  We are finishing up a short unit on fast changes of the earth (earthquakes and volcanoes).  We will be testing over this unit on Friday.  Our last Science unit to finish the year will be over Matter, Electricity, and Magnetism.  

Miss Ryan's last day.  Miss Ryan's last day with us will be one week from today (May 3). :(   She is excited to be begin her teaching career in the Cleveland area soon after she graduates from BGSU on May 6th.

Permission slips.  A couple new permission slips are going home this week.  One is for visiting the High School and FTMS for a 6th grade band performance and for a tour of Fallen Timbers.  The other slip is for Bike Hike.  May is going to be a busy month!

Team Mindcrafters Daily Updates - 5-17-17

Parents,

Math Air Test.  Day one of the the Math AIR testing is now complete!  The kids did a great job and worked really hard despite a lot of technical glitches. (Our internet network was down at the start of the day and was not always connecting well during the testing.)

Mrs. Dressel's Boston Marathon.  Mrs. Dressel ran a terrific race and finished successfully.  Congratulations on this amazing accomplishment.

Pizza party.  Mr. Pransky's homeroom will be having their pizza party for the best 5K participation prize on Friday.  No need to pack or buy a lunch that day!

Team Mindcrafters Daily Update - 5-13-17

Parents,

Math Air Test.  On Monday, students will be taking the first section of the Math AIR test.  Please help your child perform at their best by making sure they are well rested and have a nourishing breakfast on the day of the test.  

STAR Math.  Hopefully your child has had a chance to share his or her STAR test results with you.  The students did an amazing job!!  It really highlighted all of the growth and learning that the students made in math this year. I was very proud of their effort.

Mrs. Dressel's Boston Marathon.  As many of you may know, we have an elite runner in our midst her at Whitehouse.  Mrs. Dressel has qualified for and is running in this year's Boston Marathon!  This is a terrific accomplishment and is a great example for our students of how hard work and dedication to a goal can pay off.  If you would like to follow Mrs. Dressel's progress in the race, you can download the free BAA 2017 app.  I believe she begins at 10 AM on Monday, April 17th.

Team Mindcrafters Daily Update 5-11-17

Parents,

5K.  Thanks to all of the parents from both classes who participated in the Powerhouse 5K.  Mr. Pransky's class had the most student participants with ten and also had the most recruits.  Thanks so much for all of your support of the school this year!!  As a result, Mr. Pransky's homeroom earned a pizza party which we will do sometime next week.  If any parents are interested in donating drinks for the party (juice boxes or pouches) please let Mr. Pransky know.

Team Mindcrafters - 5-5-17

Parents,

What did the acorn when it was all grown up?  Geometry (gee - I'm a tree, get it?)  

Corny jokes aside, that is the current topic of study in Math.  Geometry is very heavy on math vocabulary.  Here are the terms we've learned so far.  Maybe ask your child to explain some of them to you:  points, lines, line segments, rays, perpendicular, parallel, intersecting, acute angles, obtuse angles, and right angles.
