Team Mindcrafters Daily Update - 1-31-17

Parents,

Math.  In Math we are learning about shape and number patterns.  I thought I would challenge you and your child to try to figure out some of these fun challenge number patterns (These go from easier to harder with 4 being the hardest):

Team Mindcrafters Daily Update - 1-25-17

Parents,

Spelling - This week's list is tricky, as the focus is on silent consonants.  Your child took a practice test today in Spelling City, and the results are being sent home.  I've asked for students missing more than 5 words to get this paper signed and returned to make sure you are aware of his/her need to practice a bit more before tomorrow's test.

Science.  Miss Ryan has started a section of our Ecosystems unit on Fossils.  Students have made fossils out of plaster of Paris and have read about cast, mold, trace, and amber fossils.  Students can play a Quizizz game to review the concepts we have covered so far here:


Sumdog contest.  Our students are entered into a Sumdog contest that runs until Friday.  Sumdog is a great site for students to practice math skills in a game format.  (visit:  www.sumdog.com)  Students who make the countywide leaderboard can earn prizes and recognition.

Team Mindcrafters Daily Update - 1-24-17

Parents,

Sumdog contest.  Our students are entered into a Sumdog contest that runs until Friday.  Sumdog is a great site for students to practice math skills in a game format.  (visit:  www.sumdog.com)  Students who make the countywide leaderboard can earn prizes and recognition.

AWAKE shirts.  Tomorrow is a PBIS spirit day.  Wear your AWAKE t-shirts to show support for positive school behavior.

Team Mindcrafters Daily Update - 1-18-17

Parents,

Grade cards.  Student grades should now be available in Powerschool.

Star Math - Today students took a benchmark test to assess their growth in Math.  Students should bring this report home today.  They have been making tremendous progress so far this year!

Algebra Concepts - We are finishing up with our long division unit and moving on to the study of algebra concepts.  In the coming weeks students will learn about variables (x), expressions (x + 5), equations (x + 5 = 10, and inequalities (x + 5 > 10).  We will also learn to solve word problems using variables.

Team Mindcrafters Daily Updates 1-17-17

Parents,

Grade cards.  Student grades should now be available in Powerschool.

AR Goals - Please see a packet that was sent home today.  Included is information about your child's 3rd quarter AR goals, his or her 2nd quarter AR record report, and a graph of the STAR reading assessments taken so far this year.  Please contact Mrs. Dressel if you have any questions.

200% AR Earners - Congratulations to Addison B, Stephen, Makayla, Crue, Julia, Weston and Anna.  These students earned over 200% of their AR goal last quarter.  A pizza party reward for these students will be on Thursday this week.

Social Studies Project - This week your child will bring home a slip of paper letting them know their assigned day to present their family artifacts.  Please do not send in artifacts early, as I have no easy way to store and secure so many items.

Team Mindcrafters Daily Update - 1-4-17 (Happy New Year!)

Parents,

2 liter bottles - I am looking for some clear 2 liter bottles for a science project related to ecosystems.  I'd appreciate it if f you have any at home if could you send them in to school with your child. 

Disinfectant wipes.  We are running low on these again, if anyone would like to donate some more.
