Team Mindcrafters Daily Update 2-24-16

Parents,

Jumanji - We have been doing an author study on Chris Van Allsburg.  This Friday will be Read Quest (formerly known as "Read the Most from Coast to Coast) and students will be finishing our unit in the morning as part of this reading challenge.  In the afternoon, we will be watching Jumanji, which is based on one of Van Allsburg's book.  This movie is rated PG.  If you have any concerns about your child watching this movie, please send me an email.

Spelling - This is a reminder that your child will have a "traditional" spelling test on Friday over 35 review sight words from previous lists.  They have already taken a practice test on this, which is being sent home today.  Please look over your child's results and help him/her to practice the words, especially the ones that were missed.

Team Mindcrafters Daily Updates 2-16-16

Reading:  Last week we finished up with Unit 3.  We will be taking the next two weeks to do an author study of Chris Van Allsburg.  This means that there will not be an ELA sheet this week or next.  However, a spelling list will come home today, and the test will be next week.  This list is composed of 30 words that were frequently missed from the sight word lists we've had throughout the year.

AWAKE t-shirts. Tomorrow is a school spirit day.  Have you child wear his/her AWAKE t-shirts tomorrow!

Team Mindcrafters Daily Update 2-10-16

Parents,

Valentine's Party - This Friday, February 12, will be our final class party of the year.  In case you missed it last week, I again attached a class list of names if your child would like to make Valentines.  They only would need to make them for their homeroom.  We will be making bags in class for students to collect their Valentines in.

Team Mindcrafters Daily Update 2-8-16

Parents,

Social Studies - Students have spent the last two classes researching information about a Native American Tribe that used to live in the Ohio region.  Tonight's homework is to complete 2 parts of a flap book that they are making to share their findings.  They have a page of notes that should be used to write a few sentences for each part of the flap book.  Students may choose which two parts they wish to complete.  This will be finished up tomorrow in class.

Team Mindcrafters Daily Update - 2/2/16

Parents,

Marco's Dine Out Night - Tonight!!

Math. We are finishing up long division and now moving on to algebra concepts.  Students are learning to solve equations using variables such a 2x + 1 = 9 and how to relate equations to word problems.

Science. Students should have taken home a slip with their grade over Chapter 4: Ecosystems today.  Students may retake this test in study hall by Friday if they would like to improve their grade.
