Team Mindcrafters Daily Update 3-23-15

Dear Parents,

Right to Read Week.  This week we are celebrating reading with the theme -"Extra, Extra!  Read all about it!" Today we read from newspapers and magazines.  Tomorrow's activity is to dress like a news reporter or newsboy/newsgirl.  (See attached images for outfit ideas).Wednesday we will be visited by a reporter from the Toledo Blade.

Reading - Once again, due to the many activities of Right to Read Week, we will not have an ELA sheet this week.  That means no spelling list or reading log.  Since the quarter doesn't officially start until Wednesday, there will be no AR goal expectations this Friday.  This is a great opportunity for students to start working on a big chapter book to read this week, over break, and even the following week.  Students will need 12% of their goal by the Friday we return to school (April 10).  With three weeks until then, I highly encourage students to get ahead with their reading.  When the weather finally warms up, staying inside to catch up on reading is no fun!!  New AR goals will be set by Wednesday.

Reminders:
  • Art to Remember - forms due March 27
  • Annual Powerhouse 5K/1K run forms went home last week
  • Library writing contest - see flyer to participate in this contest
