Science vocabulary

Parents/Students,

I have been adding science vocabulary from Ch. 3 to the Brainscape flashcard stack for this unit.  Students can use these to study for the test which will probably be later this week or early next week.

Team Mindcrafters 12-10-13

Parents,

Treat Shop.  Tomorrow is treat shop for most of the school.  Students are encouraged to wear festive clothes (red and green), elf/reindeer/Santa hats etc... to set the mood.  Remember that our classes are not shopping until Thursday, so no need to send any money yet.

Reward movie.  For their hard work preparing and selling Treat Shop treats we will be rewarding the students with an afternoon movie tomorrow (Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory).  If students would like to bring in a pillow or stuffed animal to rest their head on, they may, but we ask that they keep it simple, please.

Team Mindcrafters Daily Update 12-9-13

Parents,

Between Treat Shop and the 2-hour delay, this day went very quickly!

REMINDERS:
  • Online book orders need to be placed by tonight.  I will likely submit the order first thing tomorrow morning.
scholastic.com/readingclub - class code is GJLYC
  • We are selling treats on Wednesday.  Students are encouraged to dress festive (Santa hats are perfect).  Our class also needs to sell to a Kindergarten group on Thursday.  4th graders will be allowed to purchase any remaining treats for $0.25 each after kindergarten has shopped.
  • Friday is Spirit Day - Twin Day.  Students are encouraged to dress up like another student.

Have a great night,
Mrs. Dressel and Mr. Pransky

Reading/Language:
Write a "How to" paragraph about making their treats from today.  Due to the delay, we were not able to discuss this much, but there is a sample on the backside to help.

a few items

Parents,

I had a parent inquire about Scholastic Book orders prior to Christmas.  I typically offer this, but with the recent school book fair, I wasn't sure if it was needed.  However, if anyone is interested, feel free to place an order through the link below.  To ensure that the orders arrive before break, I will need to submit any orders by Monday night.  If you want to order items for Christmas gifts, send me a note, and we can arrange getting the books to you without your child knowing about them.

For Mrs. Dressel's homeroom class:

I ended up getting a couple extra donations of Chex Mix.  In order for me to be able to use up all of this, I could use a few more of the other items.  If you would be willing to send in an extra item, please send me an email, and I can let you know an item that we still need.

I'm thankful for the many helpers that volunteered to come join us on Monday!  Prepare to get a little messy, aprons are recommended:)

Enjoy the rest of your weekend,
Mary Dressel
