Correction.  The professional development day is actually the following Tuesday, May 8th not May 1st as listed in yesterday's weekly e-mail.

Parents,

My apologies for forgetting to send this out yesterday...

Congrats!  Congratulations to Mrs. Dressel for both qualifying for and successfully completing the Boston Marathon.  The cold and rainy weather made an already challenging course even tougher, but she ran it and ran it well!

Team Mindcrafters Weekly Update - 4/10/18

Parents,

I hope everyone had a great Spring Break.  The students did a great job coming in recharged and ready to learn today:)

Spring Pictures - Spring pictures are tomorrow.  There is nothing you need to send in unless you would like to choose a pose from the information that was sent home before break.

State Testing -  We will have state testing the next two weeks.  It would be great if you could avoid any appointments on those days.  Our ELA tests next week are on April 18 and April 20.  The following week we will have our Math tests on April 24 and April 26.

Team Mindcrafters Weekly Update - 3/26/18

Parents,

I hope everyone had a great weekend.  Looking forward to an awesome week!

Science Test - Tomorrow students will have a Science test over Slow Changes of the Earth.  The homework tonight is to complete the practice test on Moodle. (un:2026XXX pw:aw+lunch number) This can be done as many times as necessary to study.  Each attempt is also worth 1 Class Dojo point!  100% onnthe practice test earns a "Practice the Key" badge.

Math News - Today and tomorrow we will be assessing over a BIG unit on fractions and decimals.  Just a heads-up, many students may end up with a "3" for these standards on the grade card because there are a lot of them and some students haven't had the time to demonstrate mastery (yet).  If they haven't mastered everything that's okay.  It will show as a "3" that they have gained partial mastery they will have a chance to raise it to a "4" for full mastery in 4th quarter.

200% Pizza Party - Congratulations to Carter, Julian, Dean, Kacee, Rex, Madeline, Roya, Brody, Collin, McKenna, Olivia, Molly and Julia who all reached 200% of their AR goal for the 3rd quarter!  Those students will have a pizza party lunch on Wednesday, March 28. 4th quarter goals are now set, and will need to be met by May 25.

Team Mindcrafters - Weekly Update 3-19-18 (early delivery)

Parents,

For a couple of reasons, next week's email is being sent home today.  There will not be another email on Monday.

Next week is Right to Read Week: Theme: "Oh the Places You Can Go with a Great Book!"

Spirit Days:

Monday - Hats off to Dr. Seuss - wear your favorite hat

Tuesday -  Crazy Fox in Sox! - Show off crazy or mismatched socks

Wednesday Character Costume Day - Dress as your favorite storybook character (doesn't have to be Dr. Seuss related)

Thursday - If I Ran the Zoo - Wear an animal themed shirt/outfit and bring in a stuffed animal too

Friday -  Oh, The Places You Can Go! - Wear a shirt/outfit from your favorite place you have ever visited (or in real life).

School calendar updates - There will be no school the Monday after Spring Break (April 9), so that teachers may participate in a safety training.  Also, please make sure that you are aware that the next Teacher Professional Development Day is May 8th, not May 1st.  Please see the email from the school for more information on both of these dates.

Book orders - Students were given book orders yesterday.  In order to place order and ensure its delivery prior to Spring Break, orders will be due on Monday.  Sorry for the quick turn around time.  Remember, Scholastic's website offers a wide selection of books that can be ordered, and they are searchable in many ways, including by AR level.  To order online use our class code: GJLYC

Reading News - Next week we will be finishing up Unit 4. This is the last unit we will do from the book. For the remainder of the year we put all of our skills (including spelling) into practice with other projects and units.

End of the quarter - Next Friday marks the end of the 3rd quarter. Students who earn 200% of their AR goal will participate in a pizza party on Wednesday, March 28. Those students will be notified next week. Grades will be available in Powerschool by Thursday, March 29.
