Team Mindcraters Daily Update - 11-12-15

Parents,

Math.  This week we have been working on multiplication concepts.  We have been working hard to learn multiples of 2's, 3's, 4's, 5.'s, 6's, 7's, 8's and 9's.  Please have your child continue to practice basic multiplication facts at home as we will be moving on to multiplication of greater numbers very soon.  Fast and accurate recall of basic facts is essential!

      Team Mindcrafters Daily Update 11-11-15

      Parents,

      Veteran's Day - For those of you who have served, or are currently serving, in one of the armed forces, we want to take this opportunity to thank you for your service!  Students have an optional reading page on Veteran's Day that they can complete tonight for a bonus class dojo point.

      Science Research Project.  Students will be doing a long term research project over animal adaptations.  This is part of a unit being taught by Miss Schnee.  Going home today is a description of this assignment, and students may begin when they'd like.  This final project will not be due until 12/2. Students will be given some class time to work on this, but most of it will be done at home.  You are welcome to email Miss Schnee with any questions you may have regarding this project.  eschnee@bgsu.edu

              Sorry for the late email.  I had to leave right after school for a meeting, and then got out of my routine:(

              Reading.  Please note that we are jumping ahead a week in unit 2.  You will be following the spelling list and story for week 4.  Next week we will go back and do week 3.  Sorry for the confusion, but this was a needed switch to follow plans to do our Spider story with Miss Schnee this week.

                  Science Quiz.                    Your child took a quiz on Moodle today.  Most students did a great job preparing!  Results may be seen here or for students who took their test with Mrs. McNamara here. Students may retake the test to raise their grade if they would like on Monday.

                  Math.  This week we began an new unit covering multiplication concepts.  We will be learning factors, products, multiples of numbers up to 100.  Students will also learn to identify prime and composite numbers up to 100.  Gaining speed and accuracy with basic facts will be the goal for the quarter as we will soon transition to multiplication of greater numbers.

                      Take practice test is posted on Moodle here as homework. There are lots of options to study.  Students can: 
                      • take the Moodle Practice test multiple times
                      • review by reviewing their Science notebooks
                      • reread the Plant and Animal Life Cycle book.
                      • play a Kahoot game that can be done for practice.
